Welcome to GIS 4 Schools new web site.  The purpose of this site is to inform teachers participating in Firewise in the Classroom of GPS/GIS options available to assist them in getting technology into their classroom.

Minnesota Firewise in the Classroom Project:

MN DNR has developed a newer version of JMAPS. It is easier to use and can be taught in 1 class period. This new version works perfectly on MAC computers using Safari.  The updated curriculum is posted on this web site and on Minnesota DNR’s Firewise web site:  http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/education/wildfire/firewise_communityproject.html

GIS 4 Schools will again be providing technical support to Minnesota Schools participating in Firewise in the Classroom and it will be a very busy year.  Eighteen school projects are scheduled and GIS 4 Schools will be exhibiting at 9 teacher Conferences in Minnesota.
